A federal judge today granted preliminary approval of a $9.75 million settlement of product defect claims involving Nexus 6P smartphones.
The settlement with Google and its joint venturer, Huawei, will provide up to $400 to phone owners who experienced sudden shutdowns and other problems.
U.S. District Judge Beth Labson Freeman found that the settlement “confers substantial benefits” and “compares favorably with the potential recovery when balanced against the risks of continued litigation.”
