Biography

Nina Gliozzo represents plaintiffs in complex litigation nationwide, with an emphasis on consumer and fertility-related litigation. Nina was a central part of the trial teams in Pacific Fertility and JUUL. In the Pacific Fertility trial, which resulted in a precedent-setting $15 million jury verdict against the manufacturer of a malfunctioned storage tank at an IVF clinic, Nina took the direct examinations of two of the plaintiffs, women and couples whose frozen eggs and embryos were lost in the tank failure. In JUUL, Nina played an integral role throughout the case, developing claims against key defendants, conducting discovery, working to obtain class certification, defending the certification order on appeal, and helping to prepare cases for trial. She recently received the prestigious “California Lawyer Attorney of the Year” (CLAY) Award for the JUUL litigation, recognizing its major impact on society and the law. Following a global settlement with JUUL, Nina was a key trial team member in the first bellwether case against Altria (f.k.a. Philip Morris). Altria also settled just after plaintiff rested its case, bringing the total settlements to nearly $2 billion. She also plays a central role in the firm’s work in the Prudential case, as well as several ongoing confidential fertility matters. Before joining Girard Sharp, Nina clerked for the Honorable Marsha S. Berzon of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Nina earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco. During law school she externed for the Honorable Charles R. Breyer, U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of California. She presently serves on the Advisory Committee for the Complex Litigation Ethics Conference at Hastings. While in law school, Nina served as Executive Symposium Editor for the Hastings Law Journal, organizing a symposium featuring a conversation with former Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.
