WAMCO CIO Ken Leech Charged by SEC Following Fraud

Western Asset Management Company is a global fixed-income investment firm headquartered in Pasadena, California with $381.1 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2024According to the FBI “Kenneth Leech, the former CIO of Western Asset Management Company, allegedly violated his fiduciary duty by crafting a preferential treatment scheme to allot more than $600 million in profits and losses to particular clients.” Since the beginning of August, clients have pulled $55 billion from WAMCO, which represents 15% of the company’s assets.

According to a November 25, 2024 Grand Jury Indictment, investors who invested with WAMCO between 2021 and October 2023, and whose investments aligned with the “Core” and “Core Plus” strategies may be affected.
