Girard Sharp today was appointed co-lead counsel in Orellana v. Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, a data breach class action pending in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The action is brought on behalf of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles patients who allege that their personal medical and health information was compromised in the breach. Partner Adam Polk was named co-lead counsel along with Daniel Robinson of Robinson Calganie, Inc., and Abbas Kazerounian of Kazerouni Law Group was appointed as liaison counsel.
In making the appointment after a contested leadership process, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette M. Palazuelos cited our firm’s extensive experience in large data breach and privacy class actions. The court also noted that Girard Sharp has “assembled a diverse group that includes young, female attorneys who will meaningfully contribute to the litigation.” The order specifically names Girard Sharp associates Kimberly Macey and Jessica Cook, noting that they have “already contributed substantially by spending many hours on the phone with class members affected by the data breach.”
