Girard Sharp partner Adam Polk has been appointed co-lead counsel in the consolidated Blue Shield of California Privacy Litigation (Case No. 4:25-cv-03209) in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The litigation consolidates nineteen data privacy actions against Blue Shield of California, a nonprofit health plan serving nearly 4.5 million patients in California. The litigation alleges that patient information was leaked through web tracking technologies including Google Analytics, with private patient data potentially used to deliver targeted advertisements.
Polk will work alongside co-lead counsel Amber Schubert of Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe LLP to oversee strategy, coordinate discovery efforts, and manage the consolidated complaint in this significant privacy case affecting consumers throughout California and beyond.
The Court appointed the leadership structure after carefully reviewing multiple applications and conducting a comprehensive hearing, noting the need for experienced counsel to efficiently advance this complex privacy litigation.
