Rocket Drops Over 14% After October Merger

Rocket is a Detroit-based financial technology company with a platform of mortgage, real estate, and personal finance businesses. Rocket states that its “proprietary technology platform is designed to deliver a seamless, AI-driven homeownership experience, integrating home search, mortgage origination, title and closing, and personal financial management.” As it relates to the Merger, the Company stated that the transaction will be accretive to the combined Company’s earnings per share immediately after the Merger closed and will potentially capture significant cost-savings. After the Merger closed, however, and following news that the Federal Trade Commission is suing a Rocket subsidiary for antitrust violations, the Company’s stock price fell by 14%.
