California Antitrust Claims Sustained in Gasoline Litigation

On March 29, U.S. Magistrate Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley denied a motion to dismiss Plaintiffs’ antitrust claims under California’s Cartwright Act seeking recoveries for consumers against oil companies charged with conspiring to illegally fix and stabilize gasoline prices.

Judge Corley previously appointed Girard Sharp as co-lead counsel along with Hausfeld LLP.

The court also denied the Defendants’ motions to stay the litigation and to dismiss Plaintiffs’ unjust enrichment claims. The court dismissed the claims under the Sherman Act and California’s Unfair Competition Law.
