Girard Sharp Files California Gasoline Price-Fixing Lawsuit

Girard Sharp has filed a class action lawsuit against energy companies Vitol Inc., SK Energy Americas, Inc., and SK Trading Co., Ltd. for conspiring to increase and maintain gasoline prices at supra-competitive levels. Plaintiffs seek to represent all people in California who paid for gas at the pump beginning in March 2015 and until the effects of Defendants’ antitrust violations subsided.

The suit alleges that Vitol and SK engaged in an anticompetitive scheme to drive up and manipulate California gas prices after a February 2015 explosion at a refinery that supplied ten percent of the state’s gas. Defendants also are alleged to have illegally agreed to share profits from and conceal their scheme.
