On January 6, 2020, a federal judge in Los Angeles said that he was inclined to grant final approval of the landmark $215 million class action settlement that recognizes all survivors of former student health center gynecologist George Tyndall, and establishes institutional reforms on campus to prevent sexual misconduct.
The $215 million in monetary compensation secured by the agreement provides relief to all women who were patients of Tyndall, gives survivors a choice on how they want to participate, and does so with greater privacy and speed than litigation. Every class member will receive a minimum payment of $2,500, and those who decide to provide more information about their experiences and harm will be eligible for up to $250,000.
