U.S. District Judge Lucy H. Koh on February 22, 2021 appointed Dena Sharp as interim co-lead class counsel in an antitrust case alleging a scheme to delay generic competition that would have reduced the price of Xyrem (Sodium Oxybate), a prescription drug used to treat narcolepsy.
Judge Koh also appointed a steering committee of lawyers from seven firms to prosecute the claims on behalf of consumers and other Xyrem purchasers under the supervision of co-lead counsel.
In the Xyrem litigation, Dena represents plaintiff New York State Teamsters Council Health and Hospital Fund, a self-insured health plan alleging it paid overcharges as a result of pharmaceutical companies’ antitrust violations.
