A federal judge has granted preliminary approval of a $7.25 million settlement in a class action lawsuit against Google concerning the first-generation Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. The plaintiffs allege that Pixels manufactured before January 4, 2017 have a defect that leads to microphone or speaker failures.
The settlement would benefit a class comprised of all persons in the United States who purchased a Pixel or Pixel XL smartphone, other than for resale, before January 4, 2017 and did not receive a replacement Pixel manufactured after January 3, 2017 or refurbished after June 5, 2017.
