A recent New York Times article revealed that sports betting platform, DraftKings, developed a machine learning model to identify losing gamblers. The model allegedly scored each customer by how much money they were likely to lose per promotional incentive offered. A DraftKings employee who worked on the model alleged that it identified those prone to gambling addiction. The company targeted highly-scoring individuals with promotional incentives, according to the article.
