SEC Files Complaint Against Nanban Ventures LLC for Investment Fraud
On October 5, 2023, the SEC filed a complaint against Nanban Ventures LLC and its founders for issuing fraudulent securities offerings targeting members of the Indian community in the Dallas Fort-Worth area. The complaint alleges that “Nanban” raised almost $130 million by making false or misleading statements to investors. According to the complaint, investment funds were placed in shell companies owned by Nanban or its founders rather than invested as represented. Payments to investors were allegedly made using other investor funds as in a Ponzi scheme. The founders of Nanban allegedly personally profited from these schemes.
