PFAS’ Linked to Adverse Birth Efffects in New Hampshire
A study published earlier this month showed that mothers in New Hampshire who drank water from wells downstream of PFAS releases experienced higher rates of adverse birth. The study examined 11,000 births to mothers living near PFAS-contaminated sites in New Hampshire between 2010 and 2019. The mothers living downstream of sites contaminated with PFAS experienced a 191% higher infant mortality rate, 20% higher preterm birth rate, and 43% higher low-birth weight rate compared with average.
