VMware Licenses Holders Lose Services
Broadcom is a global technology company that acquired VMware in November 2023. Following the acquisition, Broadcom discontinued the sale of VMware lifetime software licenses. Some perpetual license holders have since reported receiving cease and desist letters from Broadcom stating they are no longer entitled to support services or certain software updates. Additionally, alternative VMware product bundles costs have increased by upwards of 300% in some cases.
